SFX Project: Wounded Nurse – Trauma Realism Look
Location
London, UK
Date
April 2025
Role
Makeup Artist
Project type
Photoshoot
For this special effects makeup project, I created a hyper-realistic trauma look based on the concept of a critically injured nurse. The focus was on achieving authentic textures, blood flow patterns, and wound placement to reflect a high-impact medical emergency scene.
The final look incorporates facial disfigurement, a neck gash, and IV-related trauma on the arm, enhancing the narrative of a nurse caught in a chaotic or catastrophic event. This piece highlights my ability to combine prosthetic techniques with storytelling to create impactful, cinematic results.
Materials & Techniques Used:
Latex – used extensively to build up texture for infected wounds and create a convincing neck laceration.
Gelatine – sculpted and tinted to replicate the look of severe facial burns.
Handmade Wounds – designed using latex and layered to simulate depth and skin trauma.
Fake Blood – applied in multiple viscosities to simulate fresh bleeding, dried blood, and pooled areas.
Traditional Makeup – used to blend prosthetics with the model’s skin and create a cohesive finish.
